Shih Tzu Mama

I am the mama of 2 shih tzus which I consider my furry children. They were both rescue babies and came to me at a time I needed them most. People say I spoil them rotten,I tell them that is the reason I have them. I have also been asked if I plan on spending the rest of my life single? Yes is my standard answer, and of course they want to know why I would prefer my furry children to a man. Here are some of the reasons why.

1.My dogs are always happy to see me.

2.Dogs are better protectors than men.

3.Dogs can be taught the word no.

4.Dogs don't take a handful of pills when their sick to keep from going to the vet.

5.Dogs can always find their way back home after a night on the town.

6.A dog will fetch the morning paper.

7.A dog wants to be near you.

8.You can ask the vet to snip him even if he objects.

9.Dogs dig in the garden sometimes.

10.You can leave a dog alone and not worry about what it will break.

11.Dogs whine less.

12.Dogs are not so careless about leaving puddles on the bathroom floor.

13.A dog is a faithful companion.

14.You can train a dog not to lie on the bed,a man always lies in the bed.

15.Most dogs are really good with children.

16.Dogs are happy just to snuggle.

17.Having a dog around can actually relieve stress.

18.A dog is for life.

Rain Rain Go Away!

I think it has rained almost every day for the past 6 weeks. I'm afraid to complain too much because I know when it stops we are in for very dry weather. Oh what the heck, I have to complain. It's like a doggone swamp out there, you know it's bad when it smells moldy. Maybe I can mow and weedeat soon. I am trying to get a few things done in the house. Today I put away winter clothes and unpacked the summer stuff, I have to do that twice a year because there isn't enough closet space in this old house. The spare bedroom has become a store room so somethings gotta give which means I better get ready to part with something. I don't part with things to well,I always think I might need that for something one day.I'm going to stop this rambling now about my chore's, I'm sure you have all had about enough. As far as the rain goes,If no one hears from me in a few days, send the lifeboats. And I live on a mountain!

The pro's and con's of computer addiction!

Well guy's I'm addicted. There's no doubt about it,and here are the reason's why.

1.I have quit shopping which was my number one thing to do when I had time, but that saves alot of money so that's a pro.

2.I need to be spring cleaning,instead I'm on the computer.That's a con.

3.I have cut down drastically on my Grazing(snacking)so I could possibly lose a pound or two. That's another pro.

4.My furry children are feeling awfully unloved.Another con.

5.My spelling is improving(a little). That's a pro.

6.My soap opera is missing me. Another con, or is that a pro?

7.I'm thinking of quitting my job so I can spend more time blogging.Got to be a hmmm.

8.My friend's all think I ran away. That's a pro and a con.

9.My granddaughter now thinks I'm cool. We know that's a pro.

10.I have begun crying at the site of "0 comment's". I think that is a con.

Ok,let's tally up.That's 5 pro's and 4 con's and 1 undecided. Guess I'll see you all tomorrow.

NOOOOOO Archie,Please Don't!!

I know, This is 2 posts within 24 hours. But what the hell are they thinking. I have read my beloved Archie for at least 50 years. Now he will propose in an upcoming issue? Will it finally be Betty or Veronica? Will he make the obvious choice(Betty)or go for the gold(veronica)? Is nothing sacred, must everyone grow-up? Archie was my safe place, my road back to my youth and innocence. So Archie please,I'm begging you..... stay young forever for all of us.

Wishes!

I know, I promised that from now on I would keep this blog sane, but I have to share my last 24 hours. Late last night I went out to walk my furry children (Max and Maggie). It was so nice outside and as we walked along, Max, of course being his usual (I'm the man) self, chasing rabbits and moths and dragging me around, while poor little Maggie done her business and was looking at me with those eyes that said, boys! Well finally, Max settled down so we could enjoy our walk, as I was taking in the wonderful night air, I looked up toward the sky and for the first time in many many years, I saw the most perfect falling star. Of course I made a wish, But I felt it had special meaning because in about 2 hours it would be my birthday. I had enjoyed seeing the star so much I was sure that was my birthday present. Then today I got up as always and went to work, not thinking too much about my birthday. At my age(59) it's not something you really look forward to anymore. My children were coming tonight, which always is my happy time. As I was driving home and pondering back over my life and birthdays gone by, I thought to myself, birthdays just aren't the same when your Mama is gone. I don't know if it's the birth connection or just because Mama's make you feel special. But, I came on home, fed and walked Max and Maggie, who are always happy I'm home, and went to my computer. Now, my computer sits right next to the bedroom door where my invalid Daddy was for many years before he passed. I have lived in this house for the better part of 43 years and I know every sound this old house makes. I heard a noise and turn to see, and the door right in front of me was shaking back and forth(the door was closed). I knew someone was there, I investigated, but I knew in my heart I would find nothing. I said " I know your there, who is it?" It rattled again. That being my Daddy's room, I said "Daddy is that you?" Everything went silent........and I knew, I said " Mama, is that you?" And the door rattled three times as hard...........I said " Thank you for wishing me Happy Birthday, I know it's you and I love and miss you very much." The door never rattled again. Later, I knew better but I told my family what had happened, they just think I'm a little out there. But it's ok, because my Mama visited today.

The good old days---Part two!

Your male teachers wore neckties and female teachers had their hair done and wore high heels.
Atomic War was a real everyday thought.
Men carried metal lunch boxes to work.
Mom was at home when the kids got home from school.
Nobody owned a purebred dog.
A quarter was a decent allowance, and another quarter, a huge bonus.
You'd reach into a muddy gutter for a penny.
It was considered a great privilege to be taken out to dinner at a real restaurant with your parents.
The worst thing you could do at school was smoke in the bathrooms, flunk a test or chew gum.
A '55 Chevy was everyone's dream car -- to cruise, peel out, lay rubber.
People went steady and girls wore a class ring with an inch of wrapped yarn so it would fit her finger.
No one ever asked where the car keys were because they were always in the car, in the ignition, and the doors were never locked.
You got in big trouble if you accidentally locked the doors at home, since no one ever had a key.
Lying on your back on the grass with your friends and saying things like "That cloud looks like a ...?"
Jumping waves at the ocean for hours in that cold water.
Playing baseball with no adults to help kids with the rules of the game. Back then, baseball was not a psychological group learning experience; it was a game.
Stuff from the store came without safety caps and hermetic seals because no one had yet tried to poison a perfect stranger.
Remember when being sent to the principal's office was nothing compared to the fate that awaited a misbehaving student at home. Basically, we were in fear for our lives, but it wasn't because of drive by shootings, drugs, gangs, etc. Our parents and grandparents were a much bigger threat! But we all survived because their love was greater than the threat.
Going to the bank meant going inside and seeing a teller - cashing a check - no automatic teller machines.
Kool-Aid.
Decisions were made by going "eeny-meeny-miney-mo."
Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming, "Do it over!"
"Race issue"; meant arguing about who ran the fastest.
Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in Monopoly.
The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was cooties.
Abilities were discovered because of a "double-dog-dare."
Water balloons were the ultimate weapon.
