I guess I should let you all know how my road trip went. It went straight to hell!! Everything went wrong and that is an understatement, believe me. I'm not going to give details because I don't want to go there again in my memories, but I did learn one valuable lesson while I was gone. I now know where I belong and where I am loved. It will be awhile before I have any desire to tread far from home again. This is one time that I should have heeded the warnings. My heart kept telling me not to do this right now. So I will let this song tell you my feelings while I was away.

A Lesson in Life........Temper Control
I'm sure most have heard this story but I don't think we ever get too old to be reminded to be kind to one another.
There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the fence.
The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily, gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.
The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said “you have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one.”
You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won’t matter how many times you say I’m sorry, the wound is still there.
Make sure you control your temper the next time you are tempted to say something you will regret later.

Miss Bailee Grace
I would like you to meet my Great-Granddaughter,Bailee Grace. 7lbs2oz,she arrived yesterday. She is so beautiful and when she sleeps she sounds like a little baby kitten whining.Just makes me want to call her Kitty(I will try to refrain). I only thought it proper to introduce her because I'm sure you all will be hearing a lot about this little one. Mother is doing great thanks to all your prayers, thank you.

Burma Shave

This was my entertainment on a road trip south as a child.
Trains don't wander
All over the map
'Cause nobody sits
In the engineer's lap
Burma Shave
She kissed the hairbrush
By mistake
She thought it was
Her husband Jake
Use Burma Shave
Remember these? For those who never saw the Burma Shave signs, here is a quick lesson in our history of the 1930's and '40's. Before the Interstates, when everyone drove the old 2 lane roads, Burma Shave signs would be posted all over the countryside in farmers' Fields. They were small red signs with white letters. Five signs, about 100 feet apart, each containing line of a 4 line couplet...... and the obligatory 5th sign advertising Burma Shave, a popular shaving cream
Here are more of the actual signs:
DON'T LOSE YOUR HEAD
TO GAIN A MINUTE
YOU NEED YOUR HEAD
YOUR BRAINS ARE IN IT
Burma Shave
DROVE TOO LONG
DRIVER SNOOZING
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT
IS NOT AMUSING
Burma Shave
BROTHER SPEEDER
LET'S REHEARSE
ALL TOGETHER
GOOD MORNING, NURSE
Burma Shave
CAUTIOUS RIDER
TO HER RECKLESS DEAR
LET'S HAVE LESS BULL
AND MORE STEER
Burma Shave
SPEED WAS HIGH
WEATHER WAS NOT
TIRES WERE THIN
X MARKS THE SPOT
Burma Shave
THE MIDNIGHT RIDE
OF PAUL FOR BEER
LED TO A WARMER
HEMISPHERE
Burma Shave
AROUND THE CURVE
LICKETY-SPLIT
IT'S A BEAUTIFUL CAR
WASN'T IT?
Burma Shave
NO MATTER THE PRICE
NO MATTER HOW NEW
THE BEST SAFETY DEVICE
IN THE CAR IS YOU
Burma Shave
A GUY WHO DRIVES
A CAR WIDE OPEN
IS NOT THINKIN'
HE'S JUST HOPIN'
Burma Shave
AT INTERSECTIONS
LOOK EACH WAY
A HARP SOUNDS NICE
BUT ITS HARD TO PLAY
Burma Shave
BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL
EYES ON THE ROAD
THAT'S THE SKILLFUL
DRIVER'S CODE
Burma Shave
THE ONE WHO DRIVES
WHEN HE'S BEEN DRINKING
DEPENDS ON YOU
TO DO HIS THINKING
Burma Shave
CAR IN DITCH
DRIVER IN TREE
THE MOON WAS FULL
AND SO WAS HE.
Burma Shave
PASSING SCHOOL ZONE
TAKE IT SLOW
LET OUR LITTLE
SHAVERS GROW

The Trail of Tears

Today is the Annual Trail of Tears Commemorative Ride. I honor these riders and all that they stand for. My Grandmother was a Cherokee, this was a terrible time for the Indian Nation. There is a lot of information on this subject on the web. If you are not familiar with this, you should spend a few moments to read.

*UPDATE*
Just found out this afternoon that my Granddaughter has "Marfan Syndrome". I will not go into detail right now about this disease but she is due to deliver her little baby girl on Oct.4th. We have been told that delivery with this disease can be life threatning. Please say a prayer for her and the baby(Bailee Grace).
