Christmas is Over and it Kinda Makes Me Sad

Just popping in to say hello. I have been catching up on my blog reading and am glad to hear everyone had a good Christmas,I sure did. Anytime all the family is here is a good time. Now that Christmas is over it's a little sad tho. It seems that for the next few months everything will be dark and dreary and kind of a let down with nothing to look forward to,but maybe it's just me. But there is still New Years Eve! Do any of you have a big night planned? When I was young and growing up in the city that was always a very special night. Parties everywhere, going from house to house to celebrate and then that magical moment at midnight! Those were the days. Now I'm sure I will be home with a few friends and family dropping by(maybe I can stay awake long enough to see the ball drop). I returned to work this past Saturday, after my bout with pneumonia, but I'm having to take it slow. I'm not quite 100% but I'm getting there. Guess I'll stop rambling for now and get off of here. Just thought I would show you all this picture of Bailee in her little Miss Claus outfit. Her first Christmas really tired her out.

Merry Christmas to All Mother's!!!!

This is a repost from last year but I just love this poem. The years with your children fly by much faster than you think........so if you are lucky enough to still have small one's at home I'm here to tell you.....enjoy every moment..........cause these are the best days of your life!!

A Mother's Night Before Christmas

'Twas was the night before Christmas, when all thru the abode,
only one creature was stirring, and she was cleaning the commode.
The children were finally sleeping, all snug in their beds,
while visions of Nintendo Wii and Barbie, flipped through their heads.

The dad was snoring in front of the TV,
with a half-constructed bicycle on his knee.
So only the mom heard the reindeer hooves clatter,
which made her sigh, "Now what's the matter?"

With toilet bowl brush still clutched in her hand,
she descended the stairs, and saw the old man.
He was covered with ashes and soot, which fell with a shrug.
"Oh great," muttered the mom, "Now I have to clean the rug."

"Ho-ho-ho!" cried Santa, "I'm glad you're awake."
"Your gift was especially difficult to make."
"Thanks, Santa, but all I want is some time alone."
"Exactly!" he chuckled, "I've made you a clone."

"A clone?" she asked, "What good is that?
Run along, Santa, I've no time for chit-chat."

The mother's twin. Same hair, same eyes,
same double chin. "She'll cook, she'll dust, "
she'll mop every mess. You'll relax, take it easy,
watch The Young & the Restless." "Fantastic!" the mom cheered.
"My dream come true! "I'll shop. I'll read., I'll sleep a whole night
through! "

From the room above, the youngest began to fret.
"Mommy?! I scared... and I 'm wet."

The clone replied, "I'm coming, sweetheart."
"Hey," the mom smiled, "She knows her part."
The clone changed the small one, and hummed a tune,
as she bundled the child, in a blanket cocoon.

"You the best mommy ever. " I really love you."
The clone smiled and sighed, "I love you, too."
The mom frowned and said, "Sorry, Santa, no deal. "
That's my child's love, she's trying to steal."

Smiling wisely Santa said, "To me it is clear, "
Only one loving mother, is needed here."

The mom kissed her child, and tucked her into bed.
"Thank you, Santa, " for clearing my head.
I sometimes forget, it won't be very long,
when they'll be too old, for my cradle-song."

The clock on the mantle began to chime.
Santa whispered to the clone, "It works every time."
With the clone by his side Santa said, "Goodnight.
Merry Christmas, Mom, You'll be all right.

All I want for Christmas is.................

This home. I Think it is so beautiful and the picture does not do it justice(enlarge). I had to take this one while driving by,the neighbors were outside and staring a hole thru me........... I guess this is asking for too much, huh?

I know,I'm not a kid anymore and that santa has been good to me in the past and more than likely the deed to this place is not going to be under my tree this or any other year. But you can't blame a Gal for trying. So,since I have shared my fantasy list with you all, now I will tell you what my real wish is. It will not cost money and you don't even have to wrap it. If you have any of these hanging around that you no longer want,I would love to have them. They would be cherished and make my Christmas Bright. I am not a greedy person,1 or 2 at best is all it would take to make me happy. 'cause all I want for Christmas is..................................

Days of Innocence

I think Christmas time always opens the flood gates of memories for us all and I am no exception. When I think back to all my christmas's past, the memories are never about the presents I received. Sure, there were a couple I cherish as my childhood favorites but for the most part the best memories are of my parents and my children and friends and family and things money can not buy. Oh the thrill of waiting on santa, does anything ever compare to it? If there is one thing that has the magic of that,it would have to be your first young love. And to have this first love happen at Christmas time is just special. In my day dating meant being courted. It was magical(like Christmas)and even a little kiss at the end of the evening meant more than most romantic things since. But,those were the days of innocence. This is a story about a boy and girl from those times........................

How Jim Smith lost his First Young Love

Jim Smith wished to buy a present for his first sweetheart, and after careful consideration, he decided on a pair of gloves.

Accompanied by his sweetheart's sister, he went to a department store and bought a pair of white gloves. The sister purchased a pair of panties for herself. During the wrapping, the items got mixed up and the sweetheart got the panties.

Without checking the contents, Jim sealed his package and sent it to his sweetheart with the following note:

Dearest Darling,

This is a little gift to show you I have not forgotten you this Christmas. I chose these because I noticed that you are not in the habit of wearing any when we go out in the evening. If it had not been for your younger sister, I would have chosen the long ones with the buttons, but she wears the short ones that are easy to remove. These are a delicate shade, but the lady I bought them from showed me a pair that she had worn for three weeks and they were hardly soiled. I had the sales girl try them on and she really looked smart. I wish I could put them on you the first time. No doubt, other men's hands will come in contact with them before I have the chance to see you again. When you take them off blow in them before putting them away as they will naturally be a little damp from wearing. Be sure to keep them on when you clean them or they might shrink. I hopeyou like them and will wear them for me next Friday night.

All My Love,
Jimmy

P.S. Just think how many times I will kiss them during the coming year. Also, the sales girl showed me how they look when worn in the latest style: folded down with the fur showing

We Receive a Gift from THEM Everyday......FREEDOM!

Arlington National Cemetery

Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.
Know the line has held, your job is done.
Rest easy, sleep well.
Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held..
Peace, peace, and farewell...

You may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington,Maine.. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one of the poorest parts of the state.

Praying for a Miracle!!

If you have been reading my blog, you will remember I became a Great-Grandmother on Sept.23,2009 to a beautiful baby girl named Bailee Grace. We were told the day she was born that she had Albinism. What we were not told was what type, there are 10 levels with type 1 being the most severe. After a trip to the genetics Doctor, the results finally came back. Our sweet little angel is type 1. She will never be able to play in the sunshine. She will always have to wear hats and dark glasses. The eye Doctor said we will just have to wait to see about her vision,at best she will only be able to see 12 to 18 inches away. I pray by some miracle that this little sweetheart can see better than that. So,one day at a time and hope for the best is all we can do. There is one thing for sure, she is loved very very much. Isn't she a beauty.......of course I think so!

Twelve Days of Christmas???

There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me.
What in the world do leaping lords, French hens,
swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out
of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?

This week, I found out...or so I heard.
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were
not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone
during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics.
It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning
plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each
element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality
which the children could remember.
-The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
-Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
-Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.
-The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.
-The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.
-The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
-Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit--Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.
-The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.
-Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness,
Gentleness, and Self Control.
-The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments.
-The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.
-The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.
So there is your history for today. This knowledge was shared with me and I found it interesting and enlightening and now I know how that strange song became a Christmas Carol...Maybe,does anyone know for sure!?
Merry (Twelve Days of) Christmas Everyone

A Quick Note!

Just letting you all know that I have not forgotten you. I have been in the hospital with pneumonia in both lungs. It has just about kicked my butt. The Doctors say it will take 4-6 weeks for me to get back on my feet. Today is the first day I felt like getting on here for a minute. Just wanted you all to know as soon as I can I will catch up on my reading and be back to my favorite past time(blogging). Hoping to be back real soon.
