Merry Christmas to all Mother's

This is a repost from last year but I just love this poem. The years with your children fly by much faster than you think........so if you are lucky enough to still have small one's at home I'm here to tell you.....enjoy every moment..........cause these are the best days of your life!!

A Mother's Night Before Christmas

'Twas was the night before Christmas, when all thru the abode,
only one creature was stirring, and she was cleaning the commode.
The children were finally sleeping, all snug in their beds,
while visions of Nintendo Wii and Barbie, flipped through their heads.

The dad was snoring in front of the TV,
with a half-constructed bicycle on his knee.
So only the mom heard the reindeer hooves clatter,
which made her sigh, "Now what's the matter?"

With toilet bowl brush still clutched in her hand,
she descended the stairs, and saw the old man.
He was covered with ashes and soot, which fell with a shrug.
"Oh great," muttered the mom, "Now I have to clean the rug."

"Ho-ho-ho!" cried Santa, "I'm glad you're awake."
"Your gift was especially difficult to make."
"Thanks, Santa, but all I want is some time alone."
"Exactly!" he chuckled, "I've made you a clone."

"A clone?" she asked, "What good is that?
Run along, Santa, I've no time for chit-chat."

The mother's twin. Same hair, same eyes,
same double chin. "She'll cook, she'll dust, "
she'll mop every mess. You'll relax, take it easy,
watch The Young & the Restless." "Fantastic!" the mom cheered.
"My dream come true! "I'll shop. I'll read., I'll sleep a whole night
through! "

From the room above, the youngest began to fret.
"Mommy?! I scared... and I 'm wet."

The clone replied, "I'm coming, sweetheart."
"Hey," the mom smiled, "She knows her part."
The clone changed the small one, and hummed a tune,
as she bundled the child, in a blanket cocoon.

"You the best mommy ever. " I really love you."
The clone smiled and sighed, "I love you, too."
The mom frowned and said, "Sorry, Santa, no deal. "
That's my child's love, she's trying to steal."

Smiling wisely Santa said, "To me it is clear, "
Only one loving mother, is needed here."

The mom kissed her child, and tucked her into bed.
"Thank you, Santa, " for clearing my head.
I sometimes forget, it won't be very long,
when they'll be too old, for my cradle-song."

The clock on the mantle began to chime.
Santa whispered to the clone, "It works every time."
With the clone by his side Santa said, "Goodnight.
Merry Christmas, Mom, You'll be all right.

They Say a Picture's Worth a Thousand Words

I know, long time no see or is it "hear" from me. You know how it is,sometimes we just let life get in the way of things we want to do. I could go on and on with the every day happenings since I last posted(as I'm sure you all could)but it seems I just can't seem to catch up and have enough time. I'm sure that time will come after the holidays when everything seems to come to a stand still until Spring. I have missed posting because it is therapy for me but even more I've missed visiting all your blogs. I hope all your Holidays are just as you want them to be and Love and Happiness surrounds you always. So until the next time I thought I'd leave you with a little of my world at this time of year. Just Christmas in the country.~Dinah~

Unbelievable!!

Who is the Eccentric One? Is it the violinist or the passers by?
Picture, if you will, the scene: Washington DC Metro Station one cold January morning a short while ago. This man is busking - playing his violin; he plays for about 45 minutes and completes six pieces by Bach.

Now, ask Will and Guy - does anyone take any notice? During that time approximately 2,000 people pass through the station, most of them on their way to work.

After 3 minutes a middle aged man notices there was a musician playing. He slows his pace and stops for a few seconds and then hurries to meet his schedule.

4 minutes later: The violinist receives his first dollar. A woman throws the money in the till and, without stopping, continues to walk.

6 minutes after that: A young man leans against the wall to listen to him, then looks at his watch and starts to walk again.

10 minutes later: A 3 year old boy stops but his mother tugs him along hurriedly, as the youngster stops to look at the violinist. Finally the mother pushes hard and the child continues to walk, turning his head all the time. This action is repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forces them to move on.

45 minutes later: The musician plays on. Only 6 people have stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 have given him money but continued to walk at their normal pace.

He collected $32.00

1 hour later: He finishes playing and silence takes over. No one notices. No one applauds, nor is there any recognition.

Now - who was the violinist?

No one knew this, but the violinist was *Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a Stradivarius violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theatre in Boston where the seats averaged $100.00

This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people's priorities. The questions raised: in a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?

One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be: If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments .................How many other things are we missing? ~Dinah~

It's not WHAT you Say.......

it's HOW you say it.

An English professor wrote the words, "Woman without her man is nothing," on the blackboard and directed the students to punctuate it correctly.

The men wrote: "Woman, without her man, is nothing.."

The women wrote: "Woman! Without her, man is nothing."

Much ado about Nothing

Yes I know it's been a month today since I have posted and I'm so far behind reading all of your blogs, missed it. Time is going by so fast and seems not much goes right anymore. You know the petty crap of everyday living that drives you nuts like car repairs and grocery shopping and bills and work and on and on....Not to mention that a life long friend of mine past away in September. But on to the lighter side....

We had the best pears of all this year.....now where was I?

So,I thought I should play a little catch up on a few of the things that have kept me from my blogging. I decided it was time to get rid of some of my junk(that's what the kids call it)that I can't seem to stop buying at yard sales(also a thing that kept me from my blog).. So I cleared out the spare room(can't show you the before shot or you would think me a hoarder)and donated most to charity, all but this....

I took this old dresser out of there(whoops forgot the bottom part wasn't in this photo)I'm losing it.

and painted it like this

and put it back in the spare room and now I have a sewing room.

of course in the mist of the work I just had to go out for my most favorite meal, wow, now I'm starving again.

I just Love Shrimp Scampi

and then Bailee Grace turned 1 on the 23rd,she's a dandy.

and today I baked a Banana Pudding Cake, got to fatten everyone up.

till next time~Dinah~

Finally!

The first day of September, you sure have been a long time a coming, seems like I have waited on you forever. Yes folks I am truly a summer hater,I love all the other seasons but summer and I are not the best of friends. When spring turns to summer I count the days until fall and I'm so happy it has arrived. Now I can finally enjoy the outdoors,it has been so hot that the only time being outside was even bearable was either early morning or sundown. I'm looking forward to all the festivals and sites I can find and even yard work will be a pleasure now. Sorry that I have been slacking on my posting lately but it seems like there is not enough time to keep up with everything. I did do a little decorating for fall. Have a good one and I'll catch ya later.~Dinah~

Before I Eat

I confess,it's seems I can't pass through the kitchen without grabbing something to eat? Yes,I am a major snacker. I very seldom eat a meal but I can't stop my snacking. You know,a bite of this or a pinch of that. So when I saw this video of course it must have been made for me(or about me). Thought you might think it was cute too. Are there anymore snackers out there?~Dinah~

The Chimney

There was such a good feeling to this place by the wayside,a feeling of home. I saw the children playing in the shade of the tree's and could hear their laughter. As I stepped closer I could hear the Mother in the house humming an old hymn,I had to step closer and I saw her as she carried her baby on her hip while she boiled beans in an iron pot,in this fireplace,to feed her hungry family. I heard her husbands footsteps on the old wooden porch and heard her call to the children to get a fresh bucket of water from the well for their Daddy to wash up with. The husband came in and slipped his calloused hand tenderly around her waist and gave her a gentle peck on her cheek,I could feel the love between them. Soon Mother hollered "supper" and all came a runnin' to enjoy this fine feast of beans and cornbread and onion and an apple crisp for desert but not before Daddy said the blessing,of course. I stood in awe as the sights and sounds and even the aroma of the food took over my memories and made me long for days gone by. It was time for me to leave now but I'll always remember this family and the love they shared in a time long ago at this place by the wayside even if it was only in my mind.~Dinah~

At The End of the Day

Is anybody happier because you passed their way?
Does anyone remember that you spoke to them today?
The day is almost over, and its’ toiling time is through.
Is there anyone to utter now a kindly word of you?

Can you say tonight in parting with the day that’s slipping fast,
That you helped a single person of the many that you passed?
Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said?
Does one whose hopes were fading now with courage look ahead?

Did you waste the day or use it? Was it well or sorely spent?
Did you leave a trail of kindness, or a scar of discontent?
As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that God will say?
“You have earned one more tomorrow by what you did today".

A Sunny Morning

Good Morning All,it may be a hot one out there but it is beautiful this morning. I don't know what it is about the morning sun that is so peaceful feeling to me. The mornings are my favorite time of the day, maybe it just brings back alot of memories. I can smell the dew and the dirt in the fields and that reminds me of the days when I was young and up bright and early and headed to work in the fields. Yeah,I'm one of those crazy one's that just loved working in the fields and I have a lot of fond memories of those days. The morning sun also makes me remember the days when my Son's were out there waiting on the school bus,I can almost see them and hear their laughter. I turn around and I can remember my Grandmother washing clothes on the back porch in an old wringer washer and the thrill of learning how to peel and cut up tomatoes under the shade tree and even the sting of the tomatoe juice on my hand after I had nicked myself with the knife. Maybe it's just a combination of the morning sun and this yard that brings it all back but there's just something about the morning that say's "all's right with the world". This old farm has saw a lot of changes thru the last 5(starting the 6th)generations and some of those changes were not for the better but it's home to me. I just wish it could be a sunny morning all day long.~Dinah~

This is A Test.....Only A Test!

Let's have a little fun! Do you think you are sane? This test will tell you. Come on give it a shot. Good luck!

PSYCHOPATH TEST

Read this question, come up with an answer and then scroll down to the bottom for the result. This is not a trick question. It is as it reads. No one I know has gotten it right. Few people do.

A woman, while at the funeral of her own mother, met a guy whom she did not know. She thought this guy was amazing. She believed him to be her dream guy so much that she fell in love with him right there, but never asked for his number and could not find him. A few days later she killed her sister..

Question: What is her motive for killing her sister?[Give this some thought before you answer, see answer below]

*

*

*

*

*

*

*
Answer:
She was hoping the guy would appear at the funeral again. If you answered this correctly, you think like a psychopath. This was a test by a famous American psychologist used to determine if one has the same mentality as a killer. Many arrested serial killers took part in the test and answered the question correctly. If you didn't answer the question correctly, good for you....

If you got the answer correct, please let me know so I can take your crazy self off my e-mail list!...........uh,I'm sorry,I really didn't mean that. I like you I really really do........uh,I got to run now.......you have a great day!

Updating with Photo's

It's me,it's me,it's Dinah B. Yes,I have been very lazy with my blogging lately. I use the word lazy because there really isn't a good reason why I haven't but I have missed it. Summer is flying by but I'm not complaining cause I always look forward to Fall beside the fact that "we are FRYING down here"!! It is too hot right now to enjoy any outdoor activities, thank goodness we had a break in the heatwave over the 4th of July weekend. Which brings me to a few photo's I wanted to share with you.

Remember Bucky Covington? He was on American Idol a few season's back. Saw him in concert last Saturday night at a festival near my home. I really had a good time,he puts on an excellent show and gives it all he's got.

This is Miss Bailee Grace, she is growing so fast. She is 10 month's old now and walking around all the furniture and keeping everyone on their toe's.

I haven't gotten around to showing you the fountain I got for my Birthday. I just love it,so much that I put it in my kitchen.

Be back soon,promise.~Dinah~

This Ain't Nothing

Today wasn't one of my better days,I awoke at 5:30 this morning to a bursted waterpipe that had flooded a bedroom,Maxwell(my furbabie)has pulled another muscle in his hip and can't walk(and won't pee even tho I took him out in the rain and even lifted his leg for him),my sewing machine broke,I just got my computer out of the shop and I'm not sure it's working properly(there's no telling what this post will look like)I had written a long post in detail of my day but lost it and for the most part I had been dishearted all day. But then something comes along and reminds me that I have seen much tougher days and survived them and how much I have to be thankful for. This video is a tear jerker but it sure puts things in perspective. Have a great week ya'll.
