At The End of the Day
Is anybody happier because you passed their way?
Does anyone remember that you spoke to them today?
The day is almost over, and its’ toiling time is through.
Is there anyone to utter now a kindly word of you?
Can you say tonight in parting with the day that’s slipping fast,
That you helped a single person of the many that you passed?
Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said?
Does one whose hopes were fading now with courage look ahead?
Did you waste the day or use it? Was it well or sorely spent?
Did you leave a trail of kindness, or a scar of discontent?
As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that God will say?
“You have earned one more tomorrow by what you did today".

Now this made me stop and think, and I'm not sure, I'd like to think I made someone's day a bit easier, happier even kinder. Not sure if I really know, I do know I tried....:-) Hugs
ReplyDeleteTryng is what matters Bernie and you do succeed because you just made me happy by stopping by. Good night and sleep tight my friend.
ReplyDeleteThis really makes me think. I think of all the people that pass through my days without much notice...and those that do and then it causes me to think of the most important people in my life and hope that the way I act and talk make them feel important and special.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminders! :)
I'm glad that you went to the trouble to plant your poem for us to read. Ending up in the house, depressed and sleeping far too much. The only two that are in my presence is Joe and my dog Beau. Neither one leaves my side and I force myself to RISE and play with Beau, tell Joe how much he is loved, and try not to admit that my depression is not lifting and is depleting my energy. YET, I have a husband that loves me dearly and a furbaby that happily sees me as his own possession. In their eyes, I am the world.
ReplyDeleteSome folks here at work are a bit happier. I have brought in a lot of fresh veggies this year. Nothing like slicing fresh garden tomatoes over lunch together.
