Wow!

Wow, I already said that didn't I? Wow,there must be an echo in here. Yes it's true I'm going to be a Great Grandmother. When did I get that old? If the 50's are the new 40's then I'm too young for this and I'm not going to mention the fact that I'm not that far off from the 60's. I went with my daughter-in-law and granddaughter today for a sonogram. A new life,a new beginning, the closest thing to heaven I think we ever see.I can almost smell it's breath, there's nothing any sweeter.Anyway,It's a Girl which I have no idea how they can tell that since she had her back to us the whole time.As I have said before,I have 2 granddaughters, from 2 sons.It goes without saying that I will love this baby, but as a mother of only sons,I am still holding out for a boy. It's been awhile since I rocked a baby boy. But as my granddaughter was leaving, after we arrived home,I gently stroked her tummy and silently thought to myself. Sweetheart,I love you,and if you ARE a little girl, you might want to reconsider and grow some balls, your going to need them in this old world.

Rules for Teachers in 1872

I really got a kick out of this,I thought someone else might also.

1.Teachers each day will fill lamps, clean chimneys and trim wicks.

2.Each teacher will bring a bucket of water and scuttle of coal for the days lessons.

3.After 10 hours in school, the teachers should spend the remaining time reading the bible or other good books.

4.Women teachers who marry or engage in unseemly conduct will be dismissed.

5.Any teacher who smokes, uses liquor in any form, frequents pool or public halls or gets shaved in a barber shop will give good reason to suspect his worth, intentions, integrity and honesty.

6.Make your pens carefully;you may whittle nibs to the individual tastes of the pupils.

7.Men teachers may take one evening each week for courting purposes or two evenings a week if they go to church regularly.

8.Every teacher should lay aside from each pay a goodly sum of his earnings for his benefit during his declining years so that he will not become a burden on society.

9.The teacher who performs his labors faithfully and without fault for 5 years will be given an increase of 25 cents per week, providing it is approved by the board of education.

Memories

Mother's Day is approaching and that makes me not only think of my Mother but also of Grandmother's. My paternal Grandmother was a very unique lady,a strong willed, brave and I think in alot of ways, ahead of her time. But then there were the superstitions that she made sure she taught me. She taught me well because I carry these with me till today(could be one reason that I'm a little OCD,well alot). Here we go.
It's bad luck to put new shoes on the table.
If you leave the house without something you need, don't go back, bad luck.
If someone is leaving, don't watch them out of site or they will never return.
Don't sing in bed,you will cry before morning.
Don't tell your dreams before breakfast, unless you want them to come true.
Crow's bring messages from the spirit world(by the way I love to hear them).
There will be a death in the family if a wild bird gets in the house.
Death always comes in three's.
Don't cut a baby's hair until it is at least one year old or it will not live.
Don't give a knife as a present,it will cut your love, have them give you a penny
as payment.
Don't let a baby see it's reflection in the mirror or it will die. And then there are the one's that are tried and true(never fails). If you hear a screech owl screeching ,someone you know will die unless you choke your wrist till it stops.(I really am sane, honest). My favorite of all because it really works is when you are ready to wean a baby from it's bottle, do it by the signs(the almanac)as long as the signs are at the knees or below, they will never give a problem. Worked on both my children. As you can imagine I could go on and on with this but I am sure by now there is a paddy wagon being sent my way. But I loved my grandmother dearly she was very special to me. I will be very blessed to find out my own grandchildren love me half as much. Was anyone else taught these things growing up? I will try to keep this blog sane from now on(maybe).

SUNDAY,The day of rest.I have long since given up on trying to sleep late on Sundays, but I hope to make it till 7a.m. at least. No such luck!!!!The phone rings,"Is there any way you could cut my hair today?"........"Do you want breakfast?" I must have skipped school on the day we had our lesson on How To Say No!So,after I finished cutting hair and entertaining,I started doing my "To Do" list. Excuse me,I started after 3 more phone calls from people who think my number is the "Dear Abby" line. Anyway today I have served as a barber-which I am not, a beautician-which I am not, a groomer to 2 shihtzus-which I am not,but do in between visits to the real groomer. Prepared meals for my spoiled "furry kids", that will last for a week -10 days, I throw it in the freezer, saves time later. So,it's 13 hours later and I am on my last load of laundry and trying to share with you all. It's A GOOD THING it is raining or I would be mowing with the headlights on, Martha Stewart-I am not. I have also decided I don't need a DVR,the darn thing is full and I don't see a day of rest anytime soon.

This can't be me........Or can it?

The active and playful type. They are especially attuned to people and things around them and often full of energy, talking, joking and engaging in physical out-door activities.

The Doers are happiest with action-filled work which craves their full attention and focus. They might be very impulsive and more keen on starting something new than following it through. They might have a problem with sitting still or remaining inactive for any period of time.
