Thoughts and Sites!!

Well,I had to go to wal-mart this morning(woohoo),so I'm sharing some of my thoughts and sites along the way. Hope you enjoy the ride.

The corn is almost ready for harvest. I told you fall was here.

This church is built of sandstone, there are many buildings in this area made from this stone and I remember my Grandmother telling me about how my Grandfather and my Daddy would dig these stones out of the rock quarry(by hand)and sell them for these purposes. When I first married I lived right next to the same rock quarry(but thats a story for another time).

And this.

Side view.

Even the school where my children finished is sandstone. It was built in the 20's.

I love this old building,it's not far from my home and I'm so scared that they will end up tearing it down instead of restoring it. I love the sound of walking on these old wood floors and the smells take me back to a simplier time.

I'm Not Going Through Texas!!!!!

Starting 2 weeks from today I will have 9 days off from work. I'm driving myself crazy trying to decide how to spend them. One thing is for sure, I don't want to spend them doing the same ole same ole. I've had enough of that. The upside is that this is one of my most favorite times of the year to go somewhere. The down side is(I don't get to pick when my vacation is and most of the time,I don't know in advance)everyone else is working. Which leaves me to make plans alone. I have already been around the world in my imagination until I'm suffering from imaginary jet lag. So I think I have decided to go on a road trip and see where this leads me,but with my luck I'll probably get the flu and be bed bound those days. Anyway,I think I might have one friend who would have the time to go on an adventure with me. Wish me luck........knowing her this could turn out to be another Thelma and Louise.

Labor Day and Childhood Memories!

I imagine everyone has memories of this holiday, picnics with family and friends or fall festivals. Maybe the last camping trip of the summer. I think a lot of people are just happy to be off work and spend time at home. I also have all those memories and they are dear to me. But the memories of my childhood always creep in this time of year. When I was growing up in Michigan, school always started the same day every year, the first Wednesday after Labor Day. Childlike,of course,it was a dread, but it also meant a new pair of shoes. Shoes weren't something we got every week like kids do today. It was special,I would get a new pair of leather shoes, usually penny loafers. It's funny but I can still remember the fragrance of the new leather, and of course we couldn't forget to buy taps to go on them so they would last longer, along with shoe polish for them. This is a special memory of mine that is nice to recall(everything but the blisters on the heels I got later from the shoes)but sad because it makes me hurt for the past. Oh,and I almost forgot, and 2 brand new bright shiny pennies to place in them. As years went by the pennies were replaced with a dime(I guess no one wanted to look cheap)but if I wore them today it would still be pennies for me. Well I just wanted to share that with anyone that might have a few different kinds of memories of Labor Days gone by. One other thing,I also had to get a cheap pair of Gym shoes every year,YUK.I hated gym class.Happy Labor Day to All!

Hi! Maxwell Here! Welcome to Psychology 101

Ok Class,Our subject for today is...........................

A Dog's Daily Routine
The day is divided into two important sections: the all-important mealtime, and everything else.

I. Mealtime

Just because there does not seem to be anything visible around to eat certainly does not mean there is nothing around to eat. The act of staring at the underside of a table or chair on which someone else is eating sets in motion a chain of events that eventually results in food.

It goes without saying that you should carefully check the lower third of any space for edibles. Mouth-sized things which cannot be identified by sight or smell are considered gum.

When you actually receive a meal, submerge your head into it as you would a shower. Never, never look up again until a minimum of at least fifteen minutes after the obvious food is gone. This is important. Just because your dish is empty does not mean that it is time to stop eating.

Remember that all food is potentially yours up until the time that it is actually swallowed by another. The lengthy path a piece of food will take from a plate to a mouth via a hand is as good a time as any to stake your claim to it.

When it comes to selecting an appropriate beverage, location and packaging mean nothing. There are absolutely no exceptions to this rule.

If you really see something you want, and all your other attempts at getting it have failed, it is only right to grovel shamelessly. As a second tactic, stare intently at the object of your desire, allowing long gelatinous drools to leak like icicles from your lower lip.

II. Everything Else

There are really only two important facial expressions to bother with: complete and overwhelming joy and nothing at all.

Any time that is not meal time is potentially nap time. The best time to take a nap is when you hear your name being called repeatedly. The best location for a nap is under the bed because you can't be reached. The most relaxing position is on your side, all four limbs parallel.

The most practical way to get dry is to shake violently near a fully clothed person. A second effective method is to stand on a light-colored piece of furniture.

Personal Safety

At the first hint of any irregular noise, run from room to room barking loudly. If someone actually comes into the house, rush over to them whether you know them or not. Then kiss them so violently that they lose their balance or have to force you away physically.

The greatest unacknowledged threat to life as we have come to know it is rabbits. No matter what you must do, make sure there are none in your yard.

Recreation and Leisure

Ball: There are two equally amusing sets of rules you will want to know.

The Common Form, in which you receive a thrown ball and return it.

The Preferred Form, in which you receive a thrown ball and eat it.

Car: As you know, any open car door is an invitation to get in. Once inside, your only goal is to try to get out.

Health: In the event of a trip to the doctor, always be on your guard. If you are vaccinated, urinate on the physician.

Glad this Week is Over!!!!

I just need to vent a little before Monday rolls around and it starts all over again. This past week has been a real hoot.Things were going pretty good until Last Wednesday(I should have saw it coming right then). I was on my way to work and started to let the window down in my SUV when a noise like a shotgun went off, then the window fell down.Cha-Ching 300 dollars to repair that! I'm still fairly calm at this point, things happen. The next day is my off day,so naturally I'm doing house work and washing and catching up for the week. Things where still fairly calm and peaceful when I heard another loud noise. So,crisis #2,the washing machine goes out. Have you ever tried to wring out a king sized quilt with your bare hands? It must have weighted 100 lbs.By now my blood pressure is rising. I had already decided I would have to buy a new washer,I wasn't about to go through what I did a few months ago with the dryer, trying to fix it and having to buy one anyway. I knew it was time to calm down a moment before I made anymore decisions, so here I go to the computer to post(and whine)to everyone that I believed that I was cursed!!! You guessed it, THE COMPUTER CRASHED!!!!! I spent hours working on it to no end. On top of everything else I was having computer withdrawals. At this point I was convinced there was a voodoo woman somewhere sticking pins in a doll with my name on it. My poor son called about that time and had to hear my wrath(sorry babe). So,I thought, crap happens, deal with it. I did,I now have a window that will go up,Cha-Ching,a new washer Cha-Ching,Cha-Ching and a restored computer I just got out of the shop Cha-Ching. BTW,I also have a new DVR on the way,it went out also and anything saved must be watched before it is changed out. I'm glad I'm caught up on General Hospital.lol. I have a positive attitude tho,This IS going to be a BETTER WEEK.....This IS going to be a BETTER WEEK.......this IS going to be...............Oh,hell,the computer is messing up again! Stay Tuned...........
